I have posted these Robin's eggs at my other blog a couple of weeks ago. We documented their growth which the Momma Robin wasn't happy about. Every time I got up in the porch sill, she would raise heck and try to scare me. There were four eggs but only three of them hatched.
Below are the photos I took when they were few days old. They don't look very appealing, don't they?
Yesterday, we witnessed their first flight. Two of them were very brave to take their first taste of freedom and one of them was left at the nest. He followed them after the Mom went back to the nest and encouraged him to fly. It was very touching to see that both the Dad and Mom were there to protect the young robins as they figure out how to fly.
This is the second time that we get to see the development/growth of the baby birds.

Mama birds are definitly protective.

That's a great learning experience to be able to watch the eggs hatch and see the hatchlings grow into a fine bird. I have't seen bird's egg up close in my life. Only in pictures and I love the color of those eggs - the right turquoise for me.

that is so neat that you were able to see a bird hatched from the egg till it had it's first flight. Robins egg are interesting, why is it blue when they don't have any blue color in their feather?
aww, they are so cute. that's why you have a genius in your hands, sis. you immerse your kids into lots of experiential learning. kudos to you and the mother robin. :)
This is good and interesting post my first time to see a bird hatching the eggs the mamas protect her baby specially the first flight hehe cool.

Aren't they adorable mommy. My kids sure enjoyed watching these baby birds. In fact, they got a hold of a baby one the other day and my little girl thought it was just the cutest thing ever. :) Awe! :) Lovely photos.
