I was picking the tomatoes one day and saw this odd looking caterpillar. I hate worms and can't stand them but I picked the tomato vine anyway so I can show it to my kids. My husband researched it on the internet to see what are the white thing on it's back. As it turned, they are wasp eggs. This kind of caterpillar is called tomato Hornworm. We had them in our tomato patch and hubby scooped them up and put them in a container for our grandson. But I hvae never seen wasp eggs; very interesting! Great discovery.
I don't care for creepy crawly things much either lol but I think I'd feel sorry for him & pull those eggs off lol!

One year my parents had dozens of tomato hornworms in their tomato patch. They picked off and squished worm after worm. Had us kids not found the droppings and inquired as to what they were, the entire patch would have been devoured by morning.
(I was petrified of tomato plants for years afterward. Thanks for the memory. I'll be watching for them when I pick my tomatoes tomorrow...)

We have those in our garden,If it can turn into a moth, it will be a humming bird moth. A moth that is often mistaken for a humming bird.
