According to the sign at Wildlife Ranch in San Antonio, Texas, this type of Camel is the Bactrian type. This type of camel can be easily recognized with it's two humps on the back. The single humped camel is called dromedary camel.
You can read more about this type of camel with my source, wikipedia.

Beautiful creature aren't they? I also saw camels in a circus in our area a few weeks ago. It's fascinating to see one.
I saw camels out with the Bedoins in Israel. They are fascinating creatures.

At one time there were camels in the interior of B.C., used for carriers during the Gold Rush(s) - I understand they are not very agreeable creatures.
How cool! Camels are pretty neat.
Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos of yours. I haven't seen such animals in person. Well, thanks to books and internet.
The photo intrigued me! Ahhh, yes, Texas tends to have these exotic animal farms but I've never seen a camel in one. Neat post!
That Camel is so shy. He didn't show his face even once.
